Anxiety

The worst possible use of your imagination

We've all experienced it at one time or another in our life. It's that unpleasant feeling of dread, uneasiness, apprehension and worry over an anticipated event. It usually brings on muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue, headaches, illness and problems in focus and concentration.

It's also the worst possible use of your imagination because anxiety is just that, a situation that's made up in your mind. You weren't born with it. You didn't stop your mother's labor because you were feeling anxious to come out into the world from her safe and secure womb. You didn't stop yourself from learning to talk, walk or be potty trained because you were anxious about failing or making mistakes.

Over 90% of what we worry about never comes to pass.

When you're doing your anxiety pattern, your mind and your body have no idea that you are just making up a negative outcome, creating scenarios in your mind that are the opposite of what you desire, or that you're just reliving something negative from the past. It thinks the threat is real. The flight/flight response kicks in and the brain begins to protect you. Stress chemicals get released and the body reacts...faster heartbeat, elevated blood pressure...and you're just sitting there using your imagination!

Can we use our imagination to propel us into greatness?  Can we reprogram ourselves to think and imagine good outcomes? To feel in control?  To be confident in our abilities?  To not dread the anticipated event but to know that you have the power within yourself to face it?  That even a failure is nothing more than a learned lesson for future successful outcomes? You'll be happy to know that the answer is YES!

During your hypnotherapy session we will work on reframing your thoughts, linking them to positive associations. You'll learn relaxation techniques and tools to use in your every day life. We'll discover what negative feelings come up during certain times and begin the process of shifting your automatic response/emotions to them. We will create positive and constructive states that are uniquely specialized to you and give you the power to use them  whenever and where ever needed. Hypnosis will give you the confidence and inner peace to know that you can handle whatever comes your way!

Stress

is something that everyone experiences in varying degrees. In small amounts, stress can help motivate us to achieve a goal but when the stress becomes too much, it can have a negative impact on our minds and bodies. When this happens, we need to pay attention and make some changes.

Did you know that:

  •  43% of all adults suffer from the adverse effects of stress.
  • Stress causes headaches, heart problems, weight gain,
skin conditions, high blood pressure, depression,
sleep problems and a host of other ailments.

  • Over 75% off all doctor visits are due to stress related issues.
  • OSHA classified stress as a hazard of the workplace,
costing industry over $150 billion a year.

Think of stress as holding onto a glass of water. It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or full, what matters is how long you try to hold it. If you hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If you hold it for an hour, your arm will ache with pain.  If you hold it for a day, your arm will feel paralyzed. Hold it for 2 days and you will have to call an ambulance. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change but the longer you hold it the heaver it becomes. And that's the way it is with stress. If you carry your burdens all the time, sooner or later the burden becomes so heavy that you won't be able to hold it. If you put the glass of water down and rest before handling it again, you are refreshed and able to hold it with more ease.

I know what you're thinking. Letting go of stress is easier said than done. That's why Hypnosis is so perfect in dealing with stress because it actually causes you to become relaxed. Actually, hypnosis can be described as a state of deep relaxation, and every 15 minutes of hypnosis is equivalent to 2 hours of good quality sleep!  During hypnosis we will work on relaxing each part of your body, your forehead, your eyes, your jaw, neck and back muscles, shoulders, chest, arms, hands and fingers, hips, legs, feet and toes. Now that your body is relaxed we will work on the issues that are stressing you to change your perception and enhance your coping skills. Each session, each person, each technique is personally crafted to your particular situation and your unique point of view. It's not a one size fits all process.
